Daniel 3 is not first about spectacular rescue. It is first about whether God’s servants will bow when power, music, threat, and public unanimity all combine against them. In Daniel 3:16-18, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego give one of Scripture’s most clarifying answers. Their God is able to deliver them, but even if he does not, they will not bow.
