Matthew 6 speaks to one of the most respectable forms of spiritual corruption: the desire to seem devout while the heart remains dependent on human notice and earthly security. In Matthew 6:1-6, Jesus strips public righteousness of its glamour. Giving, prayer, and fasting may all be outwardly correct and inwardly rotten when they are performed to be seen. That means the chapter is not first about technique. It is about audience. Who are you really living before? Then Jesus places prayer itself inside that question. The Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6:9-13 is not a polished formula for religious control. It is the language of a life turned toward the Father’s name, kingdom, will, provision, pardon, and protection. From there the chapter presses into treasure and trust. In Matthew 6:19-24, what a person stores up and serves reveals where the heart already bows. And by Matthew 6:25-34, anxiety is not treated as a minor emotional inconvenience. It is exposed as life lived as though the Father must be supplemented by fear. Matthew 6 matters because it confronts both visible religion and hidden unbelief. It asks whether your piety is truly Father-facing, or whether you are still living to be seen, secured, and justified by things beneath God.

1 সাবধান, লোককে দেখাবার জন্য তাদের সামনে তোমাদের ধর্ম্মকর্ম কর না, করলে তোমাদের স্বর্গস্থ পিতার কাছে তোমাদের পুরষ্কার নেই 2 অতএব তুমি যখন দান কর, তখন তোমার সামনে তুরী বাজিও না, যেমন ভণ্ডরা লোকের কাছে প্রশংসা পাবার জন্য সমাজঘরে ও পথে করে থাকে; আমি তোমাদের সত্য বলছি, তারা নিজেদের পুরষ্কার পেয়েছে। 3 কিন্তু তুমি যখন দান কর, তখন তোমরা ডান হাত কি করছে, তা তোমার বাঁ হাতকে জানতে দিও না। 4 এই ভাবে তোমার দান যেন গোপন হয়; তাতে তোমার স্বর্গীয় পিতা, যিনি গোপনে দেখেন, তিনি তোমাকে ফল দেবেন। 5 আর তোমরা যখন প্রার্থনা কর, তখন ভণ্ডদের মত হয়ো না; কারণ তারা সমাজঘরে ও পথের কোণে দাঁড়িয়ে লোক দেখানো প্রার্থনা করতে ভালবাসে; আমি তোমাদের সত্য বলছি, তারা নিজেদের পুরষ্কার পেয়েছে। 6 কিন্তু তুমি যখন প্রার্থনা কর, তখন তোমার ঘরের ভেতরে প্রবেশ করো, আর দরজা বন্ধ করে তোমার পিতা, যিনি গোপনে বর্তমান, তাঁর কাছে প্রার্থনা করো; তাতে তোমার পিতা, যিনি গোপনে দেখেন, তিনি তোমাকে ফল দেবেন। 7 আর প্রার্থনার দিন তোমরা অর্থহীন কথা বার বার বলো না, যেমন অইহূদিগণ করে থাকে; কারণ তারা মনে করে, বেশি কথা বললেই তাদের প্রার্থনার উত্তর পাবে। 8 অতএব তোমরা তাদের মত হয়ো না, কারণ তোমাদের কি কি প্রয়োজন, তা চাওয়ার আগে তোমাদের স্বর্গীয় পিতা জানেন। 9 অতএব তোমরা এই ভাবে প্রার্থনা করো; হে আমাদের স্বর্গস্থ পিতঃ, তোমার নাম পবিত্র বলে মান্য হোক, 10 তোমার রাজ্য আসুক, তোমার ইচ্ছা সিদ্ধ হোক যেমন স্বর্গে তেমনি পৃথিবীতেও হোক; 11 আমাদের প্রয়োজনীয় খাদ্য আজ আমাদেরকে দাও; 12 আর আমাদের অপরাধ সব ক্ষমা কর, যেমন আমরাও নিজের নিজের অপরাধীদেরকে ক্ষমা করেছি; 13 আর আমাদেরকে পরীক্ষাতে এনো না, কিন্তু মন্দ থেকে রক্ষা কর। 14 কারণ তোমরা যদি লোকের অপরাধ ক্ষমা কর, তবে তোমাদের স্বর্গীয় পিতা তোমাদেরও ক্ষমা করবেন। 15 কিন্তু তোমরা যদি লোকদেরকে ক্ষমা না কর, তবে তোমাদের পিতা তোমাদেরও অপরাধ ক্ষমা করবেন না। 16 আর তোমরা যখন উপবাস কর, তখন ভণ্ডদের মত বিষন্ন মুখ করে থেকো না; কারণ তারা লোককে উপবাস দেখাবার জন্য নিজেদের মুখ শুকনো করে; আমি তোমাদের সত্য বলছি, তারা নিজেদের পুরষ্কার পেয়েছে। 17 কিন্তু তুমি যখন উপবাস কর, তখন মাথায় তেল মেখ এবং মুখ ধুইয়ো; 18 যেন লোকে তোমার উপবাস দেখতে না পায়, কিন্তু তোমার পিতা, যিনি গোপনে বর্তমান, তিনিই দেখতে পান; তাতে তোমার পিতা, যিনি গোপনে দেখেন, তিনি তোমাকে ফল দেবেন। 19 তোমরা পৃথিবীতে নিজেদের জন্য অর্থ সঞ্চয় কর না; এখানে তো পোকায় ও মর্চ্চ্যায় ক্ষয় করে এবং এখানে চোরে সিঁধ কেটে চুরি করে। 20 কিন্তু স্বর্গে নিজেদের জন্য অর্থ সঞ্চয় কর; সেখানে পোকায় ও মর্চ্চ্যায় ক্ষয় করে না, সেখানে চোরেও সিঁধ কেটে চুরি করে না। 21 কারণ যেখানে তোমার অর্থ, সেখানে তোমার মনও থাকবে। 22 চোখই শরীরের প্রদীপ; অতএব তোমার চোখ যদি নির্মল হয়, তবে তোমার সমস্ত শরীর আলোময় হবে। 23 কিন্তু তোমার চোখ যদি অশুচি হয়, তবে তোমার সমস্ত শরীর অন্ধকারময় হবে। অতএব তোমার হৃদয়ের আলো যদি অন্ধকার হয়, সেই অন্ধকার কত বড়। 24 কেউই দুই কর্তার দাসত্ব করতে পারে না; কারণ সে হয়তো এক জনকে ঘৃণা করবে, আর এক জনকে ভালবাসবে, নয় তো এক জনের প্রতি অনুগত হবে, আর এক জনকে তুচ্ছ করবে; তোমরা ঈশ্বর এবং ধন দুইয়েরই দাসত্ব করতে পার না। 25 এই জন্য আমি তোমাদের বলছি, কি খাবার খাব, কি পান করব বলে প্রাণের বিষয়ে, কিম্বা কি পরব বলে শরীরের বিষয়ে ভেবো না; খাদ্য থেকে প্রাণ ও পোশাকের থেকে শরীর কি বড় বিষয় নয়? 26 আকাশের পাখিদের দিকে তাকাও, তারা বোনেও না, কাটেও না, গোলাঘরে জমাও করে না, তা সত্বেও তোমাদের স্বর্গীয় পিতা তাদের খাবার দিয়ে থাকেন; তোমরা কি তাদের থেকে অনেক বেশি শ্রেষ্ঠ নও? 27 আর তোমাদের মধ্যে কে ভেবে নিজের বয়স এক হাতমাত্র বাড়াতে পারে? 28 আর পোশাকের বিষয়ে কেন চিন্তা কর? মাঠের লিলি ফুলের বিষয়ে চিন্তা কর, সেগুলি কেমন বাড়ে; সে সকল পরিশ্রম করে না, সুতোও কাটে না; 29 তা সত্বেও আমি তোমাদের বলছি, শলোমনও নিজের সমস্ত ঐশ্বর্য্য এর একটির মত সুসজ্জিত ছিলেন না। 30 ভাল, মাঠের যে ঘাস আজ আছে তা কাল আগুনে ফেলে দেওয়া হবে, তা যদি ঈশ্বর এরূপ সাজান, তবে হে অল্প বিশ্বাসীরা, তোমাদের কি আরও বেশি সুন্দর করে সাজাবেন না? 31 অতএব এই বলে ভেবো না যে, “কি খাবার খাব? বা কি পান করব?” 32 অইহূদিরা এসব জিনিস পাওয়ার জন্য ব্যস্ত হয়; তোমাদের স্বর্গীয় পিতা তো জানেন যে, এই সমস্ত জিনিস তোমাদের প্রয়োজন আছে। 33 কিন্তু তোমরা প্রথমে তাঁর রাজ্য ও তাঁর ধার্মিকতার বিষয়ে চেষ্টা কর, তাহলে এইসব জিনিসও তোমাদের দেওয়া হবে। 34 অতএব কালকের জন্য ভেবো না, কারণ কাল নিজের বিষয় নিজেই ভাববে; দিনের কষ্ট দিনের জন্যই যথেষ্ট।
