నా కుటుంబం మనష్షే గోత్రంలో అందరికంటే బలహీనమైనది. మా తండ్రుల కుటుంబాల్లో నేను ఏ ప్రాముఖ్యతా లేనివాణ్ణి” అని ఆయనతో చెప్పాడు. 16 అందుకు యెహోవా “అయితే ఏమిటి? నేను నీకు తోడుగా ఉంటాను గనక ఒకే మనిషిని చంపినట్టు మిద్యానీయులను నువ్వు చంపుతావు” అని చెప్పాడు. 17 అందుకు అతడు “నా పట్ల నీకు కటాక్షం కలిగితే, నాతో మాట్లాడుతున్నది నువ్వే అని నేను తెలుసుకొనేలా ఒక సూచన నాకు చూపించు, 18 నేను నా అర్పణ బయటికి తెచ్చి నీ దగ్గరికి వచ్చి నీ సన్నిధిలో దాన్ని పెట్టేవరకూ వెళ్ళవద్దు” అని వేడుకున్నాడు. అప్పుడు ఆయన “నువ్వు తిరిగి వచ్చేవరకూ నేను ఇక్కడే ఉంటాను” అన్నాడు. 19 అప్పుడు గిద్యోను లోపలికి వెళ్లి ఒక మేక పిల్లను, తూమెడు పిండితో పొంగని రొట్టెలను సిద్ధం చేసి, ఆ మాంసాన్ని గంపలో పెట్టి, అది వండిన నీళ్ళు కుండలో పోసి, ఆయన కోసం ఆ మస్తకి చెట్టు కిందకు దాన్ని తీసుకువచ్చి దూత దగ్గర పెట్టాడు. 20 దేవుని దూత “ఆ మాంసాన్ని, పొంగని రొట్టెలను పట్టుకుని రాతి మీద పెట్టి, నీళ్లు పొయ్యి” అన్నాడు. 21 అతడు అలా చేశాక, యెహోవా దూత తన చేతిలో ఉన్న కర్ర చాపి దాని కొనతో ఆ మాంసాన్ని, ఆ పొంగని రొట్టెలను ముట్టగానే ఆ రాతిలోనుంచి అగ్ని లేచి ఆ మాంసాన్ని, ఆ రొట్టెలను కాల్చివేసింది. అంతలో యెహోవా దూత అదృశ్యం అయ్యాడు. 22 గిద్యోను ఆయన యెహోవా దూత అని తెలుసుకుని “అహా, నా ప్రభూ, యెహోవా, నేను ముఖాముఖిగా యెహోవా దూతను చూశాను” అన్నాడు. 23 అప్పుడు యెహోవా “నీకు సమాధానం ఉండు గాక. భయపడకు! నువ్వు చనిపోవు” అని అతనితో చెప్పాడు. 24 అక్కడ గిద్యోను యెహోవా పేరట బలిపీఠం కట్టి, దానికి “యెహోవా సమాధానకర్త” అని పేరు పెట్టాడు. ఈ రోజు వరకూ అది అబీయెజ్రీయుల ప్రాంతమైన ఒఫ్రాలో ఉన్నది. 25 ఆ రాత్రే యెహోవా “నీ తండ్రికి చెందిన ఎద్దును, ఏడేళ్ళ వయస్సు ఉన్న రెండవ యెద్దును తీసుకు వచ్చి, నీ తండ్రి బయలుకు కట్టిన బలిపీఠాన్ని పడగొట్టి, దానికి పైగా ఉన్న దేవతా స్తంభాన్ని నరికివెయ్యి. 26 సరి అయిన ఏర్పాటుతో ఈ బండ పైన నీ దేవుడైన యెహోవాకు బలిపీఠం కట్టి, ఆ రెండవ ఎద్దును తీసుకు వచ్చి నువ్వు నరికిన ఆషేరా ప్రతిమ కలపను కట్టెలుగా ఉపయోగించి దహనబలి ఆర్పించు” అని అతనితో చెప్పాడు. 27 కాబట్టి గిద్యోను తన పనివాళ్ళలో పదిమందిని తీసుకుని యెహోవా తనతో చెప్పినట్టు చేసాడు. అతడు తన తండ్రుల కుటుంబాల వారికి, ఆ ఊరివాళ్ళకు భయపడిన కారణంగా పగటి వేళ కాక, రాత్రి సమయంలో చేసాడు. 28 ఆ ఊరివాళ్ళు వేకువనే లేచినప్పుడు బయలు దేవుడు బలిపీఠం విరగ్గొట్టి ఉంది. దానికి పైగా ఉన్న దేవతా స్తంభం కూడా పడద్రోసి ఉంది. కొత్తగా కట్టిన బలిపీఠంపై రెండవ ఎద్దు అర్పణ అయిపోయి కనిపించింది. 29 అప్పుడు వాళ్ళు, ఇది ఎవరు చేసిన పని, అని ఒకరితో ఒకరు చెప్పుకుంటూ వాకబు చేసి, యోవాషు కొడుకు గిద్యోను ఆ పని చేసినట్టు తెలుసుకున్నారు. 30 కాబట్టి ఆ ఊరివాళ్ళు “నీ కొడుకు బయలు బలిపీఠాన్ని పడగొట్టి దానికి పైగానున్న దేవతా స్తంభాన్ని పడద్రోశాడు గనుక అతడు చనిపోవాలి, వాణ్ణి బయటకు తీసుకురా” అని యోవాషుతో చెప్పారు. 31 యోవాషు, తనతో పోట్లాడుతున్న వాళ్ళందరితో “మీరు బయలు పక్షంగా వాదిస్తారా?
