Revelation 22 does not end the Bible with haze or sentiment. It ends with clarity, urgency, and desire sharpened toward the coming of Christ. In Revelation 22:1-5, the river, the tree, the throne, and the healed creation show that the curse will not merely be softened. It will be gone. The servants of God will see his face. But the chapter does not allow the reader to turn that vision into passive comfort. Again and again the voice says that Christ is coming soon. In Revelation 22:7, blessing is tied to keeping the words of the prophecy. In Revelation 22:17, invitation still goes out to the thirsty. In Revelation 22:20, the whole canon narrows into longing: “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” Revelation 22 matters because it refuses to let hope become decorative theology. It asks whether the promise of Christ’s coming is actually producing obedience, watchfulness, and holy desire, or whether the reader still treats eternity as distant truth rather than nearing reality.
