Ephesians 6 does not end the letter by giving believers techniques for dominating spiritual conflict. It ends by teaching them how to stand. The chapter assumes that Christian life is lived in contested territory, but it refuses to flatter the church with fantasies of self-generated strength. In Ephesians 6:10-13, strength is found in the Lord and in the power of his might, not in temperament, intensity, or novelty. The enemy is real, and so are his schemes, which means carelessness is dangerous. Then Ephesians 6:14-18 names the armor of God, but the armor is not magical. Truth, righteousness, readiness grounded in the gospel, faith, salvation, the word of God, and prayer all belong to a life already shaped by the gospel Paul has been expounding. By the time Paul asks for boldness in Ephesians 6:19-20, the chapter shows where warfare is actually felt: in truth-bearing endurance and fearless witness. Ephesians 6 matters because it asks whether you think spiritual conflict is answered by dramatics, or whether you are ready for the harder call to stand in truth, holiness, faith, and prayer while the battle remains real.
