Second Kings 22 is one of the chapters where the recovery of God’s word becomes a crisis rather than a pleasant religious moment. Josiah is already seeking repair in the house of the Lord, but in 2 Kings 22:8-11 the discovery of the book of the law tears the king open. He rends his clothes because Scripture has not come to flatter reforming instinct. It has come to expose how far Judah has drifted.
