Acts 27 is not about admiring courage in rough weather. It is about the supremacy of God’s word when every human measure of control is breaking apart. At the beginning, Paul warns that the voyage will end in disaster, yet his judgment is set aside in Acts 27:9-11. That matters because the storm that follows is not just meteorological pressure. 1 যখন সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হলো আমরা জাহাজে করে ইতালিয়াতে যাত্রা করব, তখন পৌল ও অন্য কয়েক জন বন্দী আগস্তীয় সৈন্যদলের যুলিয় নামে একজন শতপতির হাতে সমর্পিত হলেন। 2 পরে আমরা আদ্রামুত্তীয় থেকে জাহাজে উঠে যাত্রা করলাম, যে জাহাজটি এশিয়ার উপকূলের সমস্ত জায়গায় যাবে। মাকিদনিয়ার থিষলনীকীর অধিবাসী আরিষ্টার্খ আমাদের সঙ্গে ছিলেন। 3 পরদিন আমরা সীদোনে পৌঁছলাম; যেখানে যুলিয় পৌলের প্রতি সম্মানের সাথে তাহাকে বন্ধুবান্ধবের কাছে নিয়ে গিয়ে যত্ন নেওয়ার অনুমতি দিলেন। 4 পরে সেখান হতে জাহাজ খুলে সামনের দিকে বাতাস হওয়ায় আমরা কুপ্র দ্বীপের আড়ালে আড়ালে চললাম। 5 পরে কিলিকিয়ার ও পাম্ফুলিয়া শহরের সামনের সমুদ্র পার হয়ে লুকিয়া প্রদেশের মুরা শহরে উপস্থিত হলাম। 6 সেখানে শতপতি ইতালিয়াতে যাচ্ছিল একখানা আলেকজান্দ্রীয় জাহাজ দেখতে পেয়ে আমাদের সেই জাহাজে তুলে দিলেন। 7 পরে অনেকদিন ধীরে ধীরে জাহাজটি চলে অতিকষ্টে ক্লীদ শহরের নিকটে পৌঁছলো, বাতাসের সহযোগিতায় না এগোতে পেরে আমরা সলমোনির সম্মুখ দিয়ে ক্রীতী দ্বীপের আড়াল দিয়ে চললাম। 8 আমরা খুবই কষ্টের মধ্যে উপকূলের ধার ধরে যেতে যেতে সুন্দর পোতাশ্রয় নামে এক জায়গায় পৌঁছালাম যেটা লাসেয়া শহরের খুবই নিকটবর্তী জায়গা। 9 এই ভাবে অনেকদিন চলে যাওয়ায় ইহুদীদের উপবাসপর্ব্ব পার হয়ে গিয়েছিল এবং জলযাত্রা খুবই সঙ্কটজনক হয়ে পড়ায় পৌল তাদের পরামর্শ দিলেন। 10 এবং বললেন, মহাশয়েরা, আমি দেখতে পাচ্ছি যে, এই জলযাত্রায় অনেক অনিষ্ট ও ক্ষতি হবে, তা শুধুমাত্র জিনিসপত্র ও জাহাজের নয়, আমাদেরও প্রাণহানি হবে। 11 কিন্তু শতপতি পৌলের কথা অপেক্ষা ক্যাপ্টেন ও জাহাজের মালিকের কথায় বেশি মনোযোগ দিলেন। 12 আর ঐ পোতাশ্রয়ে শীতকাল কাটাবার জন্য সুবিধা না হওয়ায় অধিকাংশ লোক সেখান থেকে অন্যত্র যাওয়ার জন্য পরামর্শ দিল যেন কোনোও প্রকারে ফৈনীকা শহরে পৌঁছে সেখানে শীতকাল অতিবাহিত করতে পারে। এই জায়গা ক্রীতীর এক পোতাশ্রয়, এটা উত্তরপূর্ব ও দক্ষিণপূর্ব অভিমুখী। 13 পরে যখন দক্ষিণ বায়ু হালকা ভাবে বইতে লাগল তখন তারা ভাবলো যে, তারা যা চায় তা পেয়েছে সুতরাং তারা ক্রীতীর কূলের নিকট দিয়ে নোঙ্গর নামিয়ে জাহাজ চলতে লাগল। 14 কিন্তু অল্প দিন পর দীপের উপকূল হতে উরাকুলো (আইলা) নামে এক শক্তিশালী ঝড় আঘাত করতে লাগল। 15 তখন জাহাজ ঝড়ের মধ্যে পড়ে বায়ুর প্রতিরোধ করতে না পারায় আমরা জাহাজটি প্রতিকূলে ভেসে যেতে দিলাম। 16 পরে কৌদা নামে একটি ছোট দ্বীপের আড়ালে আড়ালে চলে অনেক কষ্টে নৌকাটি নিজেদের বশে আনতে পারলাম। 17 তখন নাবিকরা সেটা তুলে নিয়ে নানা উপায়ে জাহাজের পাশে দড়ি দিয়ে বেঁধে রাখলো; আর সুতি নামক চড়াতে গিয়ে যেন না পড়ে তার ভয়ে নোঙ্গর নামিয়ে চলল। 18 আমরা অতিশয় ঝড়ের মধ্যে পড়ায় পরদিন তারা মালপত্র জলে ফেলে দিতে লাগল। 19 তৃতীয় দিনের নাবিকরা তাদের নিজেদের জিনিসপত্র ফেলে দিল। 20 যখন অনেকদিন যাবৎ সূর্য্য এবং তারা না দেখতে পাওয়ায় এবং ভারী ঝড় ও বৃষ্টিপাত হওয়ায় আমাদের রক্ষা পাওয়ার সমস্ত আশা ধীরে ধীরে চলে গেল। 21 যখন সকলে অনেকদিন অনাহারে থাকলো, পৌল তাদের মধ্যে উঠে দাঁড়িয়ে বললেন, মহাশয়েরা, আমার কথা মেনে যদি ক্রীতী হতে জাহাজ না ছেড়ে আসতেন তবে এই ক্ষতি এবং অনিষ্ট হতো না। 22 এখন আপনাদের উৎসাহিত করি যে আপনারা সাহস করুন, কারণ আপনাদের কারও প্রাণহানি হবে না কিন্তু শুধুমাত্র জাহাজের ক্ষতি হবে। 23 কারণ আমি যে ঈশ্বরের লোক এবং যাঁর আরাধনা করি, তাঁর এক দূত গত রাত্রিতে আমার কাছে দাঁড়িয়ে বললেন, 24 পৌল, ভয় করো না, কৈসরের সামনে তোমাকে দাঁড়াতে হবে। এবং দেখো, যারা তোমার সঙ্গে যাচ্ছে ঈশ্বর তাদের সবাইকেই তোমায় অনুগ্রহ করেছেন। 25 অতএব মহাশয়েরা সাহস করুন, কারণ ঈশ্বরে আমার এমন বিশ্বাস আছে যে, আমার নিকটে যেমন বলা হয়েছে তেমন হবে। 26 কিন্তু কোনও দ্বীপে গিয়ে আমাদের পড়তে হবে। 27 এই ভাবে আমরা আদ্রিয়া সমুদ্রে ধীরে ধীরে চলতে চলতে যখন চতুর্দ্দশ রাত্রি উপস্থিত হলো, তখন নাবিকরা অনুমান করতে লাগলো যে এখন প্রায় মধ্য রাত্রি এবং কোনও দেশের নিকট পৌঁছেছে। 28 আর তারা জল মেপে বিশ বাঁউ জল পেলো; একটু পরে পুনরায় জল মেপে পনের বাঁউ পেলো। 29 তখন আমরা যেন কোন পাথরময় স্থানে গিয়ে না পড়ি সেই ভয়ে তারা জাহাজের পিছন দিকে চারটি নোঙ্গর ফেলে প্রার্থনা করে দিনের র অপেক্ষায় থাকলো। 30 নাবিকরা জাহাজ থেকে পালাবার চেষ্টা করছিল এবং গলহীর কিছু আগে নোঙর ফেলবার ছল করে নৌকাটি সমুদ্রে নামিয়ে দিয়েছিল, 31 কিন্তু পৌল শতপতিকে ও সেনাদের বললেন ওরা জাহাজে না থাকলে আপনারা রক্ষা পাবেন না। 32 তখন সেনারা নৌকার দড়ি কেটে সেটি জলে পড়তে দিল। 33 পরে দিন হয়ে আসছে এমন দিন পৌল সকল লোককে কিছু খাবার জন্য অনুরোধ করে বললেন, আজ চৌদ্দ দিন হলো, আপনারা অপেক্ষা করে আছেন এবং না খেয়ে আছেন, কিছুই না খেয়ে দিন কাটাচ্ছেন। 34 অতএব অনুরোধ করি, বেঁচে থাকার জন্য কিছু খান, আর আপনাদের কারও মাথার একটিও কেশ নষ্ট হবে না। 35 এই বলে পৌল রুটি নিয়ে সকলের সামনে ঈশ্বরের ধন্যবাদ দিলেন, পরে সেটি ভেঙে ভোজন করতে শুরু করলেন। 36 তখন সকলে সাহস পেলেন এবং নিজেরাও গেলেন। 37 সেই জাহাজে আমরা সবশুদ্ধ দুশো ছিয়াত্তর লোক ছিলাম। 38 সকলে খেয়ে তৃপ্ত হলে, পরে তারা সমস্ত গম সমুদ্রে ফেলে দিয়ে জাহাজের ভার হালকা করলো। 39 দিন হলে তারা সেই ডাঙা জায়গা চিনতে পারল না। কিন্তু এমন এক খাড়ি দেখতে পেল, যার বালিময় চর ছিল; তারা তখন আলোচনা করলো যদি পারে, তবে সেই চরের উপরে যেন জাহাজ তুলে দেয়। 40 তারা নোঙ্গর সকল কেটে সমুদ্রে ত্যাগ করলো এবং সঙ্গে সঙ্গে হালের বাঁধন খুলে দিল; পরে বাতাসের সামনে সামনের দিকের পাল তুলে সেই বালিময় তীরের দিকে চলতে লাগলো। 41 কিন্তু দুই দিকে উত্তাল জল আছে এমন জায়গায় গিয়ে পড়াতে চড়ার উপর জাহাজ আটকে গেল, তাতে জাহাজের সামনের দিকটা বেঁধে গিয়ে অচল হয়ে গেল, কিন্তু পিছন দিকটা প্রবল ঢেউয়ের আঘাতে ভেঙে যেতে লাগলো। 42 তখন সেনারা বন্দিদের মেরে ফেলার পরিকল্পনা করলো, যাতে কেউ সাঁতার দিয়ে পালিয়ে না যায়। 43 কিন্তু শতপতি পৌলকে রক্ষা করবার জন্য তাদের সেই পরিকল্পনা বন্ধ করলেন এবং আদেশ দিলেন, যারা সাঁতার জানে, তারা আগে লাফ দিয়ে ডাঙায় উঠুক; 44 আর বাকি সকলে তক্তা বা জাহাজের যা পায়, তা ধরে ডাঙায় উঠুক। এই ভাবে সবাই ডাঙায় উঠে রক্ষা পেলো।
