This policy applies to theBible website, iOS app, community feed, reading and memorization tools, AI-assisted study features, support interactions, and any related services operated under theBible brand.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide directly

• Account details such as name, email address, login provider, avatar, bio, church affiliation, and profile preferences.
• Content you create, including posts, comments, notes, bookmarks, highlights, memorization collections, reactions, and follows.
• Support requests, account recovery messages, and moderation appeals.

2.2 Information created through your use of the service

• Reading progress, study time, verse interactions, notes activity, memorization activity, and feed engagement.
• Device, browser, and app usage telemetry needed to keep the service secure, improve quality, and understand product performance.
• Approximate location signals inferred from IP address or locale settings when needed for fraud prevention, language selection, or country-level analytics.

2.3 Information from third-party sign-in providers

If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the identifiers and profile information those providers return to us, subject to the choices you make in those provider flows.

3. How We Use Information

• Provide account access, Bible reading, notes, memorization, plans, community, and AI study features.
• Personalize recommendations, feed ranking, search relevance, and language or translation defaults.
• Measure service quality, prevent abuse, debug issues, and improve product performance.
• Enforce moderation, account integrity, and platform safety rules.
• Communicate service updates, support responses, and security notices.

4. Community Content And Visibility

Posts, comments, profile details, and other community activity may be visible to other users depending on your privacy settings and the visibility of the relevant surface. If you publish community content, you should assume that other users can view, quote, react to, or report that content within the platform.

If you delete your account, content may be removed from public view, but operational records may be retained as necessary for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, backup recovery, and support workflows.

5. AI Features

Some study and search features may process your prompts, selected verses, notes, or related context through AI systems operated by us or third-party providers. We use this data to generate the requested outputs, maintain reliability, and improve feature quality. You should avoid submitting sensitive personal information to AI tools unless you are comfortable with that information being processed for that purpose.

6. Analytics, Recommendations, And Personalization

We collect interaction and usage signals to understand how theBible is used and to improve search, recommendations, feed quality, study features, and ranking systems. These signals may include impressions, clicks, dwell time, reading progress, completed study sessions, reactions, shares, bookmarks, and similar activity across web and iOS.

The updated iOS app asks for permission before sending requests and their necessary context to our AI providers, Anthropic, OpenAI or Replicate. Depending on the feature, this includes a question, selected passage, conversation history, note text you choose to transform, or an image prompt. You can revoke permission for future requests in Privacy settings. Reading the Bible does not require this permission.

Your browser or app install is given a random identifier so we can count visits without knowing who you are. If you then create an account, we link the activity recorded under that identifier in the preceding days to your account, so we can understand how people arrive at theBible. We do not perform this linking when the same browser or device has already been used by a different account. This identifier is not shared with advertisers and is not used to track you across other websites or apps.

Optional iOS performance diagnostics contain crash and hang counts and time spent in the app, not raw crash stacks, notes, questions or Scripture text. Diagnostics default to off and can be disabled in Privacy settings. The app's retry queue is bounded and expires unsent events after six days.

7. External Content, Attribution, And Provenance

theBible may reference, link to, summarize, or display imported or externally sourced content from third-party platforms or public creator accounts. Where we ingest or display such content, we aim to preserve source metadata, attribution, and provenance, including the original platform or creator when available.

References to public content on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, or YouTube do not mean those platforms endorse theBible. If we provide a “View original” link or source reference, that link is part of our attribution and provenance model, not a transfer of ownership.

8. Sharing And Disclosure

We may share information with service providers and infrastructure partners that help us operate the service, such as:

• hosting, storage, and CDN providers
• authentication and identity providers
• payment and subscription processors
• analytics, crash reporting, and customer support tools
• AI or search providers used to fulfill requested features

We may also disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce our terms, investigate abuse or fraud, protect users, or defend our rights and systems.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service, maintain account history, provide support, enforce platform rules, comply with legal obligations, and restore systems from backup. Different data types may have different retention periods.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data, including access controls, authentication, infrastructure protections, and monitoring. No service can guarantee absolute security, and you remain responsible for protecting your account credentials and devices.

11. Your Choices

• You can update profile and privacy settings in the app or on the website.
• You can delete your account through supported account settings flows.
• You can decide whether to publish community content, connect social identity providers, or use optional AI features.

12. Children

theBible is not directed to children below the age required by applicable law to create an account without parental consent. If you believe a child submitted personal information improperly, please contact us.

13. International Use

theBible may be operated from or supported by infrastructure in multiple countries. By using the service, you understand that information may be processed and stored in jurisdictions different from your own.

14. Changes To This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will be posted on this page, and the “Last updated” date will reflect material revisions.
