Joshua 1 is given at a moment when fear could easily masquerade as realism. Moses is dead. The land still lies ahead. The task is public, costly, and larger than Joshua. That is why the chapter matters: God does not answer the transition by enlarging Joshua’s self-belief. He answers it with his presence and his word. In Joshua 1:5-9, the repeated command to be strong and courageous is inseparable from the promise that the Lord will be with him. Courage here is not personality. It is obedience under divine presence. Then Joshua 1:8 presses even deeper. Leadership is to be shaped by meditation on the word, not by impulse, charisma, or improvisation. The chapter understands something many do not: fear is not only conquered by comfort, but by sustained submission to what God has said. 1 और ख़ुदावन्द के बन्दे मूसा की वफ़ात के बाद ऐसा हुआ कि ख़ुदावन्द ने उसके ख़ादिम नून के बेटे यशू'अ से कहा, 2 “मेरा बन्दा मूसा मर गया है इसलिए अब तू उठ और इन सब लोगों को साथ लेकर इस यरदन के पार उस मुल्क में जा जिसे मैं उनको या'नी, बनी इस्राईल को देता हूँ। 3 जिस — जिस जगह तुम्हारे पाँव का तलुवा टिके उसको, जैसा मैंने मूसा से कहा, मैंने तुमको दिया है। 4 वीराने और उस लुबनान से लेकर बड़े दरिया — ए — फ़रात तक हित्तियों का सारा मुल्क और पश्चिम की तरफ़ बड़े समन्दर तक तुम्हारी ह़द होगी। 5 तेरी ज़िन्दगी भर कोई शख्स़ तेरे सामने खड़ा न रह सकेगा; जैसे मैं मूसा के साथ था वैसे ही तेरे साथ रहूँगा मैं न तुझ से अलग हूँगा और न तुझे छोड़ूंगा। 6 इसलिए मज़बूत हो जा और हौसला रख, क्यूँकि तू इस क़ौम को उस मुल्क का वारिस करायेगा जिसे मैंने उनको देने की क़सम उनके बाप दादा से खाई। 7 तू सिर्फ़ मज़बूत और निहायत दिलेर हो जा कि एहतियात रख कर उस सारी शरी'अत पर 'अमल करे जिसका हुक्म मेरे बन्दे मूसा ने तुझ को दिया; उस से न दहिने मुड़ना न बायें ताकि जहाँ कहीं तू जाये तुझे ख़ूब कामयाबी हासिल हो। 8 शरी'अत की यह किताब तेरे मुँह से न हटे, बल्कि तुझे दिन और रात इसी का ध्यान हो ताकि जो कुछ उस में लिखा है उस सब पर तू एहतियात करके 'अमल कर सके; क्यूँकि तब ही तुझे कामयाबी की राह नसीब होगी और तू ख़ूब कामयाब होगा। 9 क्या मैनें तुझको हुक्म नहीं दिया? इसलिए मज़बूत हो जा और हौसला रख; ख़ौफ़ न खा और बेदिल न हो, क्यँकि ख़ुदावन्द तेरा ख़ुदा जहाँ जहाँ तू जाए तेरे साथ रहेगा।” 10 तब यशू'अ ने लोगों के मनसबदारों को हुक्म दिया कि। 11 तुम लश्कर के बीच से होकर गुज़रो और लोगों को यह हुक्म दो कि तुम अपने अपने लिए सफ़र का सामान तैयार कर लो क्यूँकि तीन दिन के अन्दर तुम को इस यरदन के पार होकर उस मुल्क पर क़ब्ज़ा करने को जाना है जिसे ख़ुदावन्द तुम्हारा ख़ुदा तुमको देता है ताकि तुम उसके मालिक हो जाओ। 12 और बनी रुबिन और बनी जद और मनस्सी के आधे क़बीले से यशू'अ ने यह कहा कि। 13 उस बात को जिसका हुक्म ख़ुदावन्द के बन्दे मूसा ने तुमको दिया याद रखना कि ख़ुदावन्द तुम्हारा ख़ुदा तुमको आराम बख़्शता है और वह यह मुल्क तुमको देगा। 14 तुम्हारी बीवियां और तुम्हारे बाल बच्चे और चौपाये इसी मुल्क में जिसे मूसा ने यरदन के इस पार तुमको दिया है रहें, लेकिन तुम सब जितने बहादुर और सूरमा हो हथियार लगाए हुए अपने भाइयों के आगे आगे पार जाओ और उनकी मदद करो। 15 जब तक ख़ुदावन्द तुम्हारे भाइयों को तुम्हारी तरह आराम न बख़्शे और वह उस मुल्क पर जिसे ख़ुदावन्द तुम्हारा ख़ुदा उनको देता है क़ब्ज़ा न कर लें। बाद में तुम अपनी मिल्कियत के मुल्क में लौटना जिसे ख़ुदावन्द के बन्दे मूसा ने यरदन के इस पार पूरब की तरफ़ तुम को दिया है और उसके मालिक होना। 16 और उन्होंने यशू'अ को जवाब दिया कि जिस जिस बात का तूने हम को हुक्म दिया है हम वह सब करेंगे, और जहाँ जहाँ तू हमको भेजे वहाँ हम जाएँगे। 17 जैसे हम सब उमूर में मूसा की बात सुनते थे वैसे ही तेरी सुनेंगे; सिर्फ़ इतना हो कि ख़ुदावन्द तेरा ख़ुदा जिस तरह मूसा के साथ रहता था तेरे साथ भी रहे। 18 जो कोई तेरे हुक्म की मुख़ालिफ़त करे और सब मु'आमिलों में जिनकी तू ताकीद करे तेरी बात न माने वह जान से मारा जाए। तू सिर्फ़ मज़बूत हो जा और हौसला रख।
