Sometimes we place expectations on people that only Jesus can fulfill. Friends, family, mentors—they're human. They'll disappoint us. That's not a reflection of their love; it's a reflection of their limitations. When we expect perfection from imperfect people, we set them up to fail and ourselves up to hurt. The freedom comes when we release them to be exactly what they are: beloved, flawed, and doing their best.
