Revelation 5 turns on one question: who is worthy to open the scroll? The answer is the slain Lamb who reigns.

打开章节注释

Revelation 5 begins with a crisis that no creature can solve. The scroll is in the hand of the One on the throne, but in Revelation 5:1-5 no one is found worthy to open it. John’s weeping matters because it reveals what is at stake: history cannot be understood or brought to its end apart from the right mediator. Then the Lion appears as the Lamb in Revelation 5:6-10. That is the chapter’s central shock. Worthiness belongs to the one who was slain. Authority is bound up with sacrifice. Redemption creates a people for God, and worship erupts because heaven sees what earth would never invent. By Revelation 5:12-13, universal praise answers the Lamb’s worth. Revelation 5 matters because it asks whether you still imagine divine victory in merely forceful terms, or whether you understand that the crucified and risen Christ alone is worthy to open history and bring God’s purposes to completion.

How the chapter unfolds

The chapter moves from John’s grief over unread history to heaven’s song over the Lamb who is worthy.

Why this chapter matters

It matters because it shows that God’s purposes in history are carried forward not by brute force but by the crucified and risen Christ.

Interpretive tension to watch

The chapter forces the reader to hold together Lion and Lamb. Victory is revealed in sacrificial worthiness.

1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. 2 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? 3 And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. 4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. 5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. 6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. 7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne. 8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four [and] twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. 9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; 10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. 11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; 12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. 13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, [be] unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. 14 And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four [and] twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.

经文 5:1-5 Standard

History is closed until the worthy one appears

打开

John’s weeping shows that the sealed scroll is no minor symbol. If no one can open it, creation remains unable to see or receive the completion of God’s purposes. The crisis is resolved only when heaven names the worthy one.

关键经文
经文 5:6-10 Deep

The Lion is revealed as the Lamb who was slain

打开

The chapter’s central shock is that worthiness is not grounded in naked force but in sacrificial victory. The Lamb stands as slain, and precisely by that death he redeems a people for God from every tribe and tongue.

💥 Truth

Heaven’s center is not raw power but crucified worthiness. Redemption does not interrupt glory. It defines it.

Worship answers what heaven has seen

打开

The widening chorus is not decorative. Worship expands because the worth of the Lamb has been revealed. Heaven, earth, and every creature answer with praise because history and redemption have found their rightful center.

arnion (arnion)

直译: lamb

John does not place a generic ruler at the center of heaven but a lamb-like redeemer whose slainness remains part of the vision.

It sharpens the paradox that heaven’s victorious center is sacrificial and redemptive, not merely forceful.

Revelation 5 · Throne-room worship world 跳转到经文

Royal courts and heavenly throne imagery carried public authority, judgment, and worthiness language familiar to apocalyptic hearers.

Modern readers may reduce the scene to visual spectacle and miss that Revelation is presenting the public legitimation of the Lamb’s rule.

It sharpens worship in Revelation 5 as a response to recognized worthiness and royal authority, not only emotional awe.
